Burlap Mitten Garland

Today is the concluding 24-hour interval of my 8 days of Christmas crafts!

I’ve saved the BEST for last.

This burlap mitten garland is i of my favourite homemade decorations.

Burlap is everywhere in my abode this Christmas season. I’ve been experimenting amongst novel ways to usage too display the extremely versatile material, too I couldn’t live happier amongst how this adorable vacation garland turned out!

Materials:

Natural Burlap

White Burlap

Red Burlap Ribbon

Green Burlap Ribbon

(note: y'all desire a tight weave burlap too then that it doesn’t fray equally easily)

Coordinating, red, green, white, too dark-brown thread

Sewing machine

Any ribbons, buttons, Red Ric Rac or Gold Ric Rac y'all desire to decorate your mittens with!

Glue gun

To begin, I cutting my burlap into 3″ x 4.5″ rectangles. Then I constitute an outline of a mitten on Google that I liked (just search “mitten”!), copied it into a give-and-take document, too resized it too then that it would stand upwards for inside my cloth rectangles when printed.

I pinned the printed mitten impress to the operate past times ii pieces of burlap, too sewed around the mitten print, using a coordinating thread. This volition run upwards the ii pieces of burlap together. I used ii pieces because I wanted the mittens to live thick, too I didn’t desire to live able to run across through them.

Once they are sown together, cutting only exterior of the sewn thread trouble to bring out a perfect burlap mitten!

This is the fun usage – decorate those mittens all the same y'all like!

Since I convey a lot of red, gold, too burlap decorations inward my abode this Christmas, I wanted to comprise a lot of those elements. I added gilded too cerise buttons to some mittens, too gilded too cerise ric rac to others. Finally, I added strips of decorative burlap ribbon to the remaining ribbon.
