14. Learn to drive standard – Check!

Driving standard. This is suppose to locomote 1 of those great, of import life skills right??

That’s what I’ve been telling myself… that’s how I convinced myself to learn!

Although I’ve directly made it 28 years without needing to motility standard…

nevertheless, 1 of our vehicles is standard, too we’ve already had a few incidences where it would’ve been much easier to co-ordinate if I could’ve driven the criterion vehicle.

Therfore, “learn to motility standard” became 1 of my 14 of fourteen goals. 

Initially I tried to larn to motility the criterion vehicle end year, only I never got whatever farther than starting too stopping over too over 1 time to a greater extent than inwards a parking lot. This year, my finish listing kept me motivated. Then the surprise snowfall autumn nosotros got on Sept. seventh (Yep, that’s correct!! Northern Alberta,,,,) motivated me fifty-fifty to a greater extent than to initiative of all learning. So I made myself a deadline too nosotros got to it.

My blood brother was staying alongside us at the time, too therefore afterward Ellie went to bed nosotros had him psyche for infant cries spell nosotros snuck out to drive.

I picked it upward waaaay faster than end year. After 3 lessons, I was feeling fairly confident. But my hubby said he wouldn’t transcend me until I got out alongside the Rav4 on my own.

And I did it!!

I gathered my courage too drove out alone. The motivation of making it to the shop to purchase article of apparel helped… only I went to the drugstore, arts and crafts store, too article of apparel shop all on my own.

A few difficult forceful starts, a few pull-through parking spaces, too a strategically planned road without hills too I did it!

I’m a happy Albertan daughter – officially driving a criterion vehicle!
